DID YOU KNOW?
Read these great facts that our team put together for you to enjoy and expand your knowledge.
1. We inhale oxygen (produced by plants during daylight) and exhale carbon dioxide (a waste product). So why do nurses remove flowers from your hospital room at night? This is because when the sun goes down, plants produce carbon dioxide.
2. Just after 1945 (World War II), to avoid Germany attacking the world again, the giant Berlin Wall was built to split Germany into two countries: East Germany and West Germany. The wall was taken down in 1989 when it was decided that Germany no longer posed a threat to the rest of the world.
3. Do Plants like music? If you’ve ever hiked in a forest, you would have surely noticed that nature has its own symphony of sounds. So what happens when you play Mozart, Bach or Beethoven to your plants? They grow. Turns out plants have more sensory awareness than we give them credit for.
4. The world is split into 7 continents:
– Europe
– North America
– South America
– Australia/Oceania
– Asia
– Antarctica
– Africa
5. Scientists proposed a theory suggesting that the 6th mass extinction is currently underway. Human activities have driven the rate at which plant and animal species die out to 100x the natural rate. What can you do to make a difference about this?
6. Istanbul (a city in Turkey) is the only city that is on two continents. The city of Istanbul lies in both Europe and Asia.
