1. Vitamin tablets are important if your normal meals do not contain enough natural vitamins and minerals. They do not replace food. Ideally you should eat a full balanced diet from food sources and then use vitamin and mineral tablets to supplement your meals to ensure your body has everything it needs. If tablets could provide you with everything you need, supermarkets would be very, very small.
2. Sometimes a sound is described with a word that imitates that sound. This word is known as “Onomatopoeia”. For example the sound of a loud bang is described as “Bang” because the word mimics the sound. List your onomatopoeias below in the comments section.
3. From 1912 to 1948, in the Olympics, there was a special category where award medals were given to Artists. This was for their Artwork that was inspired by or depicted sports. If this was still around today, could you be an olympic gold medalist (in art)?
4. Acacia trees from the African Savannah can defend themselves. When animals try to feed on its leaves, this tree increases production of Tannin which is toxic to animals. It also emits ethylene gas that spreads in the air around it. This gas reaches other trees to warn them to produce their own Tannin.
5. Researchers from the University of Pennsylvania found that, if we have a Plan B along with Plan A, our Plan A is less likely to work. This is because the motivation to work on plan A tends to decrease when we realise we have other options. Would you still make a plan B?
6. The famous cola brand Pepsi got its name from a digestive enzyme called “Pepsin”. The creator of Pepsi, Caleb Bradham, believed that his drink was “healthy” and can help the consumer with digestion. Do you think Pepsi is a healthy drink?
