This week the team has created some rather informative and interesting facts. Enjoy these facts and learn something new about the events occurring in our world.
1. Alexander Fleming discovered penicillin in the 20th century. Antibiotics have played a significant role in modern medicine since their discovery. Antibiotics have enabled the control of diseases. Because of the use of sterilisers and anti-bacterial soap, post-surgery infections are extremely rare.
2. Tyler Perry had a difficult childhood. He was abused as a child. He attempted suicide twice. He later became a world-renowned actor, producer, screenwriter, and director and owns his own studio, Tyler Perry Studios. He was crowned the richest man in entertainment by Forbes magazine in 2011.
3. Qualifying to host the World Cup can take a decade. A country must submit a bid proposal that explains why it makes financial sense for the international soccer governing body and help the sport’s global reach. The organisation evaluates proposals based on infrastructure and commercial aspects.
4. According to a recent report published by Columbia University, the amount of oil required to produce a fixed economic output, which is a broad measure of efficiency, has been declining in a linear trend since 1984 to 2022. Trends suggest that by 2024, global oil supplies will be challenged.
5. Scientists discovered that the main reason people love chocolate so much is that it releases chemicals that make them happy. Chocolate releases the chemical oxytocin, which is produced by your body when you are happy. It is not only a tasty treat, but it can also trick your body into feeling happy.
6. Kenneth and Ruth Wakefield operated the Toll House Inn, a tourist lodge in Boston. Ruth went to bake chocolate cookies but she ran out of baker’s chocolate. She improvised by chopping up a chocolate bar in the hopes that it would melt and spread into the batter, but instead the chocolate only softened.
