This week the team has created some rather informative and interesting facts. Enjoy these facts and learn something new about the events occurring in our world.

1. Obesity is a disease in which a person has an excessive amount of body fat. It increases a person’s risk of getting other diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and high blood pressure. It is caused by overeating and little movement, and it can be prevented by eating healthily and exercising.

2. Michelle Obama is the United States’ first African American first lady. Apart from being the wife of the president, Michelle campaigned for many causes during her husband’s presidency. Michelle Obama initiated the Let’s Move campaign to reduce childhood obesity and promote healthy living.

3. Soccer, also called football, is the most popular sport in the world. Over half of the world’s population watches the World Cup every four years. More than 250 million people report that they play soccer regularly. It developed from ancient Chinese games such as Cuju, which developed around 206 BC.

4. The Pacific Ocean is constantly shrinking in size. As South America and North America are moving westward, the Pacific Ocean is decreasing in size. Asia and North America get closer every year as the Pacific Ocean shrinks by two to three centimetres every year. Climate change is to blame for this.

5. Sweating temporarily shrinks the brain’s size. Although sweating is a useful method for cooling down the body and preventing humans from overheating, it also temporarily shrinks the brain. An hour and a half of sweating can temporarily reduce the brain’s size as much as one year of ageing does.

6. In the year 1894, Italian inventor Guglielmo Marcoli sent and received his first ever radio signals, which led to the invention of the radio in 1896 while improving his radio. In 1900, Marcoli was declared the creator of radio by the United States of America, for which he later won a Nobel prize.
