  1. For the Brazil’s Congress riot,1200 people are legally detained and facing charges. Suspects who were formally apprehended have five days to face charges. Following the violence, more than 1500 persons were detained in total. A sizable security force deployment in Brazil’s capital has been spurred by worries about probable more protests. The majority of individuals arrested during the violence were taken to the force’s academy in Brasilia, according to Brazilian Federal Police sources, while others have been transferred to other facilities.
  2. In accordance with a peace agreement to put an end to a terrible civil war, Tigrayan soldiers in northern Ethiopia have begun handing over heavy weaponry. Ending the two-year battle was “a step in the right direction,” according to the African Union (AU). According to estimates, violence, malnutrition, and a lack of medical attention caused hundreds of thousands of deaths. The Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF), was accused of capturing military bases and initiating an attempt to topple Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s administration.
  3. With Webb’s better sensitivity and resolution, astronomers can now detect the smallest sources. Dr. Olivia Jones from the UK Astronomy Technology Centre (UK ATC) in Edinburgh remarked, “For the first time, we can witness the whole sequence of star creation in another galaxy.” In the past, Spitzer, one of the most impressive telescopes operated by the US space agency Nasa, allowed us to find protostars that were five to eight times as large as the Sun. As a result, we have the sensitivity to find very low mass stars as they form.
  4. The UN claims that human efforts to preserve the ozone layer have been successful and that it may recover in a matter of decades. The study notes that an international agreement to stop using the toxic chemicals that were harming the layer in 1987 has been successful. The majority of the UV light from the Sun is absorbed by the ozone layer. This radiation can reach the surface when it is depleted, posing a risk to people and other living things. Sunburn and DNA damage from ultraviolet rays can raise the long-term risk of skin cancer.
  5. The first honey bee vaccination has been given the green light for usage in the US. It was developed to stop American foulbrood disease, a bacterial infection that is known to impair colonies by damaging bee larvae, from killing people. According to the biotech company, the US Department of Agriculture authorised a provisional licence for the vaccine. Bees are important pollinators and are involved in many environmental processes. The vaccination may represent a “breakthrough in preserving honey bees,” according to Dalan Animal Health CEO.
  6. Premium Android smartphones with satellite connectivity will be available as a new agreement between chip giant Qualcomm and satellite phone company Iridium. It implies that mobile devices can communicate with passing satellites to transmit and receive messages in areas without cell coverage. Many smartphones running Android contain Qualcomm processors. Apple disclosed a satellite function for the iPhone 14. Only basic text messages can now be sent and received using the service. British company Bullitt launched its own satellite service first.
