1. The leading cause of mortality is medical errors. The United States experiences 250,000 deaths annually due to medical mistakes, according to Johns Hopkins. Other reports claim the numbers are as high as 440,000. After heart disease and cancer, medical errors are the third most common cause of death.

2. Gilberto Baschiera, an Italian banker, is regarded as a contemporary Robin Hood. He secretly transferred $1 million from wealthy clients to poorer clients over the course of 7 years so they would be eligible for loans. Due to a plea agreement, he lost money in 2018 but escaped incarceration.

3. A deserted island in New Zealand is called Disappointment Island. There are almost 65,000 pairs of white-capped albatrosses that reside there. A steel tanker crashed on the island in 1868, killing 68 people and leaving 15 survivors. Twelve men perished in the wreckage of another ship that sank there in 1907.

4. The closest surviving relatives of crocodilians (a group that includes crocodiles, caimans, alligators, and gharials) are birds, which are also descended from feathered dinosaurs that became extinct. They have a common ancestor with the dinosaurs, who lived about 240 million years ago.

5. Over the years, Pope Francis has received a number of expensive gifts, one of which was a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Instead of retaining it for his own enjoyment and experiences, he sold it and donated the proceeds to help the homeless. Some of those gifts were auctioned off by the Vatican.

6. 500 seeds of five varieties were sent into lunar orbit and then planted all throughout the United States and in other nations. They were called Moon Trees.
