  1. Blast off for Nasa mission to strike space rock. A spacecraft has blast off on a mission to test technology that could one day tip a dangerous asteroid off course. Nasa’s Dart mission wants to see how critical it would be to stop a huge space rock from colliding with Earth. The spacecraft will crash into a fragment called Dimorphos to see how much of its speed and path can be altered.
  2. As the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall finish their four-day tour of Egypt and Jordan, the royal correspondent Jonny Dymond – reflects on the impact. Given the coverage that Prince Charles receives back in the UK, you might be amazed why they put so much effort into the trips. All good brow-furrowing stuff, but not much fun for the audience back home. But talk to the diplomats who have laboured away for months to build the trip, and then a completely different picture emerges. To some of them, Prince Charles has almost heroic status.
  3. US defence officials have announced the launch of a task force to explore the reports of unidentified flying objects in restricted airspace.The group will assess objects of interest and “mitigate any associated threats”, the Pentagon said on Tuesday. A highly anticipated military report in June failed to provide explanation about dozens of reported UFO sightings, and warned of possible national security risks. The new group will be overseen by military and intelligence leaders.
  4. The CubeSat is a tiny but mighty bit of tech. About the size of a shoebox, the small satellites were invented by Professor Bob Twiggs in 1999 as an educational tool for students. Quicker and cheaper to make and launch than conventional satellites, there are now hundreds of CubeSats that are orbiting Earth, made by universities, start-ups and governments.
  5. Afrobeats star Davido says he will give away 250m Nigerian Naira ($608,000; £450,000) to orphanages based in Nigeria after fans sent him money. The amount being given to orphanages includes donations from fans and a personal contribution of N50m. Davido is considered as one of Africa’s biggest music stars. He has won MTV and BET music awards and has collaborated with artists including Chris Brown and Nicki Minaj.
  6. Barcelona is one of a number of European communities which have large numbers of wild boar living nearby and they have become a common existence in the city itself.Barcelona tackles roaming wild boar problem. The singer Shakira, who lives in Barcelona, recently reported that a boar had attacked her in a park, and encounters between locals and the animals have been on the increase. As a result, the local government is trying to get the boars under control.
