We only ever experience people or creatures with immortality abilities in Sci-fi movies and series, so it would come as a surprise to hear that immortality may possibly exist in real life. Read our facts for this week and you might just be surprised.

1. Grouping human blood types can be a difficult process and there are currently around 30 recognised blood types (or blood groups). You might be familiar with the more simplified “ABO” system which categorises blood types under O, A, B and AB.

2. The gold medals presented to winners at the Olympic Games are actually not solid gold. The modern gold medals are made from sterling silver and feature just small quantities of the precious metal (the Rio 2016 versions were 1.34 percent gold).

3. Turritopsis dohrnii AKA “The Immortal Jellyfish” is known to be the only living species that can live forever. The Jellyfish can hit the reset button and reaggregate to an earlier developmental stage if it is damaged or beginning to die.

4. Vladimir Sergeevich Lukyanov built the world’s first computer in 1936 that solved differential equations. The amazing fact is that the machine was driven by water. The water integrator machine that could plot graphs and help visualize the thermal process.

5. An increase in UV radiation due to the ozone layer deteriorating has caused flowers all around the world to change color. A recent study by scientists showed that the UV pigmentation in flowers has increased and has caused a degradation of their pollen.

  1. Please continue this excellent work! I was looking for an upper class tuition center in the UK, and I believe I have found one now. My younger sister is having trouble with her GCSEs Maths .
