First week of November! Interesting fact about November, the first Roman calendar was made up of only ten months, November being the ninth month. November actually translates rather appropriately into “ninth month” in Latin. As we move closer to the end of the year, we like you to enjoy these facts that our wonderful team put together.
1. Mbabaram is an extinct traditional language from the Australian Aborigines. The language is popular in linguistics because it has a word that is common in the English language. The Mbabaram word for a dog is actually ‘dog’ and is pronounced the same way. There is no relation between the languages, this is all a coincidence.
2. The COVID 19 vaccine was developed and approved in just a few months after the project started. This was due to a new technology called mRNA that came with game changing possibilities. Before this the vaccine journey was quite long and complicated. Beginning with its breakthrough when Edward Jenner used inoculations to calm the smallpox virus.
3. What may look like a nasty mold on your bread, is actually proving to do wonders to the environment. According to environmental facts, fungi do the most work when it comes to saving the environment. It digests minerals out of rock formations and consumes fossil fuel spills, and even deradiating the environment.
4. Scientist Alexander Fleming found a petri dish with bacteria accidentally opened, it had been contaminated with mold, however, everywhere the mold was, the bacteria were dead, this mold turned out to be fungus Penicillium. Over the years, it has been studied and developed into the bacteria fighting drug we know as Penicillin.
5. Socrates was the first popular Greek philosopher, he came up with a study system called the Socratic Method, a system of studying issues through question and answer. He introduced political philosophy and wanted Greeks to start thinking about morality, good and evil.
