DID YOU KNOW?
Fruit juice versus coke, which product is the better choice for your health? Read this week’s facts and find out!
1. Photography has made a great leap from what it was when inventor Louis Jacques Mande Daguerre and Nicephore Niepce created the first successful photograph. An image that once took hours of exposure time can now be instantly taken anywhere and anytime and uploaded to Instagram for friends to see in less than a minute.
2. We begin our healthy diet plans by cutting out fizzy drinks and opting for fruit juice, but fruit juice actually has just as much sugar as coke, 15 teaspoons to be specific, this because when the juice is made, all the sugar is squeezed into the juice and the fibre is left and thrown out. Drink tea, water or sparkling water, coffee and reduced fat milk.
3. Sony Walkmans revolutionized record players, it introduced portability, played smaller cassettes and could be carried in your pocket. This meant you could listen to your favourite jams wherever and whenever. This paved the way for CD players and the iPod. Today we simply stream on services like iTunes and Spotify.
4. Painting your livestock in black and white stripes much like how the Zebra looks can help repel annoying flies. This isn’t due to the strong fumes of the paint used, the black and white stripes cause a kind of camouflage targeted at the insects vision, this works as an optical illusion and confuses the flies.
5. The worldwide banning of chlorofluorocarbon and hydrofluorocarbon, has resulted in great progress in the Ozone Layer. The hole that is 29 million square kilometres is expected to have fully recovered in the next 55 years. Take that global warming!
