Bacteria is apparently good for your health with quite a few advantages. Read through our set of facts and find out why.
1. Tennis strings were commonly made from the intestines of animals such as sheep, cows or goats. They were made by drying the fibres extracted from the parts of the intestines that contain collagen, this provided the strings with elasticity.
2. There is more bacteria in our intestines than there are human cells in our entire body. Bacteria has been proven to provide humans with many health benefits. The food we eat fuels the bacteria and helps manage weight, it also contributes to our brain functions.
3. Some African languages have click sounds that are part of the Khoisan languages. The clicks are in 70% of the words in the vocabulary and add dramatic effect in conversations. Although not part of the click languages, IsiXhosa, the official language of Wakanda in Black Panther, contains 3 click sounds adopted from the Khoisan.
4. Why is yawning so contagious? Yawning when someone else does is a psychological reaction. It is said to be a way of bonding and displaying empathy. People who are less likely to yawn owing to not being able to recognize empathy are toddlers as they have not yet learned it.
5. Although Leonardo was the epitome of a Renaissance man, he was quite the procrastinator. This was evident in the tons of sketches left unfinished after his death. Two of his most famous pieces took 17 years to complete. “The last supper” took Leonardo 3 years and then spent 14 full years to complete the Mona Lisa painting.
