1. Russian born American engineer, Vladimir Zworykin invented the Iconoscope television camera which was used to transmit images from one place to another. This device inspired today’s modern television and has made it easier for communication of news and important information to travel around the world.

The main fibre in lemons is pectin, it lowers blood sugar levels by slowing down the digestion of sugar and starch. Add a little zest to your meal.

3. On average, a tennis match usually lasts about 9 minutes with the shortest recorded game lasting only 2 minutes. The record for the longest tennis game played is between John Isner and Nicolar Mahut, the game lasted an outstanding 11 hours and 5 minutes.

4. There exists an Amazonian tribe known as the Pirahã. Their language, the Pirahã, is one of the last surviving dialects of the Mura language. The Pirahã language contains one of the smallest set of speech sounds with very little sound variations, and does not have any words that refer to colour, just two words for light and dark.

5. Another interesting feature of the Pirahã language is that it can be whistled and hummed and still understood without use of any actual words. In addition vowels and consonants can be removed from the language and meaning can still be communicated through variations in pitch, rhythm and stress.

6. Plato’s most famous work is called the Republic. In this work Plato discusses the meaning of justice and how cities and governments should be run and describes his ideal society. His work is still studied today and has made major contributions to both philosophy and political theory in history.
